Camera support equipment developed and used over the past century can generally be divided into two groups.
One group includes tools that already exist but are not particularly effective — often due to a lack of proper reference. Every piece of equipment must satisfy multiple criteria, and if an original version of a given tool never existed, it becomes difficult to design one that meets all expectations.
The second group consists of devices that have been thoughtfully redesigned — made simpler, lighter, and more efficient.
Another category includes specialized tools, not necessarily defined by their cost, appearance, or method of use, but rather by how frequently they are used. Naturally, these groups can overlap and influence one another. The lifespan of a piece of equipment can also be shaped by habit or purely by economic factors.
At Garry – The Lightweight Solution, as its name suggests, we create the lightest possible versions of the usual heavy, often oversized and ill-considered tools without changing their load capacity and flexibility.
Our ongoing goal is to invent, develop, and manufacture new, specialized tools that respond to the constantly evolving needs of the film industry — tools that we hope will become proven standards in the years to come.
